I do mixes for people, if I enjoy the music in question. I simply think that it’s much easier to do a good job if the mixer on the same wavelength as the artist.
The price per track is $50, but the fee can be negotiated. A full album of 10 tracks hence doesn’t necessarily have to cost $500.
I have a long background as a DIY mixer for my own tracks. I graduated with a Master of Science in Digital Composition and Performance from the University of Edinburgh in 2014, and I am currently working as a tutor for master’s students at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, where I teach electronic music and mixing techniques.
The mixes would be done at my home studio, as well as at the studio at the Academy of the Arts. It’s good practice for mixing engineers to listen to their material in different studios.
